SHARKNADO 5: Global Swarming. July 2017.
We all know there's only one movie franchise in history that can not only survive jumping the shark but positively thrive on it. And that's the Sharknado franchise which would take such a development and turn it into a major selling point.
And so it is that, amazingly, we've now got a fifth addition to the series that makes you feel like you must have had a lobotomy in order to have agreed to watch it.
But watch it you will because only a lunatic doesn't want to see sharks dissected by chainsaws, in mid flight.
And I'll say it, right here and now, that is the greatest trailer ever made - for the greatest film of all time. You can stick your Citizen Kane; this is how movies should be.
It's been four days since my last post on here, not because I had something better to do with my time - I never have anything better to do with my time - but simply because the only trailers released in those dark and dismal days have been for movies that all look and sound exactly the same and have trailers that look and sound exactly the same. Seriously, I'm convinced they've just been re-releasing the same trailer every day with a different film title attached to it. But at last, I've found a promo with the wit to be different, one that realises that trailers are supposed to stand out, not fit in and, for that, as well as its sheer gleeful stupidity, I love it.
Admittedly, the film was unleashed upon the world over two weeks ago, so it's a bit late to be reviewing the trailer but I'm so happy to see it that I don't care. That's the kind of man I am.

Little Evil. August 2017.
Maybe it's just me but I don't think I can think of a better time to be sending up The Omen than right now.
Well, alright, I can. July 1976 was a better time - what with the film being topical back then and it not having already been sent up a billion times by a billion people.
In other words, it does seem very late in the day for Netflix to be backing such a venture.
Of course, none of that matters if the film's some sort of masterpiece. The trouble is the trailer sort of reminds me of the Ghostbusters remake trailer, in that it seems amiable enough but also unexceptional and redundant.
Based purely on the preview, I get the feeling the film's going to be likeable but unfulfilling, and suspect that we'll forget it the moment it's finished.

The Osiris Child. Falcon Films' May 2017 trailer.
This is bizarre. Earlier today, One Media posted a trailer for this film, which is the most boring trailer I've ever seen. Seriously, it made the Inhumans trailers look thrilling.
Then I came across this, which is a trailer for the same film but from earlier this year.
It's like a totally different movie. Where that one was all brooding, angst and moping, this one has the stuff in it you actually want from sci-fi. It has monsters, it has gun fights, it has dramatic music, it has flying around, it has unpleasantness, it has a convict on the run, it has action scenes and general all-round kick-bottomness.
Having made a compelling trailer for a film you'd actually want to see, why would they then, months later, produce a trailer guaranteed to empty any cinema?
I don't have a clue but thank God this trailer exists because, thanks to it, I know it's a film I might actually have a chance of appreciating.
